Terms for using Scitong

These terms explain the basic conditions for using Scitong. The short version is that Scitong provides a guided thesis workspace, while students remain responsible for their academic decisions, sources, ethics, and final submission.

Operator and access

Scitong is operated by VOGTOV in the Netherlands. You may use the public website without an account. Some product features may require an account, an anonymous session, or later paid access if pricing is introduced.

You are responsible for keeping account access secure and for using Scitong only where your university, programme, supervisor, and local rules allow it.

Student responsibility

Scitong can help structure a thesis project, prepare draft material, organise research decisions, and check practical steps. It does not replace a supervisor, examiner, ethics committee, library, statistician, or university handbook.

You remain responsible for checking every output before using it, confirming sources, following citation rules, protecting participant data, meeting ethics requirements, and submitting work that follows your institution's academic integrity policy.

Scitong does not guarantee grades, approval, acceptance, publication, supervisor agreement, or a successful defence.

Acceptable use

Do not use Scitong to submit false work, impersonate another person, upload material you have no right to use, attack the service, bypass usage limits, or process highly sensitive research data without the required safeguards.

If you upload thesis material, make sure you are allowed to process it in Scitong. Remove unnecessary participant identifiers before uploading research data.

Open beta status

Scitong is currently in open beta. Features may change, limits may be adjusted, and some workflows may be incomplete. The operator may suspend access, remove abusive usage, or change availability when needed to keep the service reliable and lawful.
