Cookie policy
Cookies used by Scitong
This policy explains the essential session and account cookies used by Scitong and the non-essential advertising choices that may apply if advertising is activated later.
What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a website in your browser. Similar technologies can store identifiers or preferences for the same purposes. Some cookies are necessary for a service to work; others depend on a choice from you.
Essential Scitong cookies
Scitong may use an essential anonymous session cookie to connect a browser to its own projects and usage allowance. If you sign in or create an account, the authentication provider may also use essential security and session cookies.
These cookies keep the product usable, prevent abuse, and help restore your own workspace. They do not contain thesis text and cannot be turned off through a consent choice because the related workflow cannot function without them.
Advertising cookies
Google advertising is not active on Scitong as of 1 July 2026. If it is activated, Google and approved partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver ads, limit repetition, measure performance, prevent fraud, and personalise advertising where you consent.
Information sent to Google can include the page URL, IP address, browser or device information, consent choices, and existing Google advertising identifiers. The website will need an appropriate consent message before non-essential advertising technologies are used for visitors where consent is required.
Browser and consent controls
- Use your browser settings to view, block, or delete cookies.
- Use the consent message to manage non-essential advertising choices if advertising is activated.
- Be careful before deleting an anonymous session cookie, because that browser may lose access to its anonymous Scitong projects.
